Arc Communications Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Mariko Ohsato), is set to launch a Foreign Language Website One-stop Service applying the expertise and strength of its translation and website design businesses to address an increasing need for foreign-language editions of Japanese corporate websites.
With the advance of globalization, the need to display websites in foreign languages is increasing in Japan, where more companies are branching out into overseas markets. Many companies and organizations are pressed to respond to the need to create websites in various languages-not only English but also Asian languages such as Chinese (traditional and simplified) and Korean and European languages such as French and Spanish. While creating a preexisting Japanese website in a foreign language is a complex process, few website design companies in the past had the required know-how. It was the norm for clients to outsource translation work to a translation company and HTML coding and layout editing work to a separate website design company. The burden on the client was enormous since they needed to give detailed instructions to the web design company, whose staff had no understanding of the foreign language, and moreover they were required to perform detailed checks of the work in progress and give further instructions to have their corrections implemented. Because both the client and the web design company lacked the required knowledge, often the client would not be confident about, nor satisfied with the finished product.
Arc Communications has a rich track record in foreign language website design, including the simultaneous creation of a 16-language website. In the new one-stop service, the company plans to utilize its expertise to reduce the client's burden and provide for better website creation by undertaking the entire process from translation to coding and design. It will cover a range of languages including English, Chinese (traditional and simplified), Korean, Russian, French, German, Spanish and Portuguese and will handle simultaneous releases of multi-lingual websites.
Arc Communications' preliminary sales target for the current fiscal year for the service is set at 100 million yen.
